Project Promise, a local non-profit on St. Croix, is calling on the community to support its newest endeavor and help send its students on a service road trip across the U.S.
One of Project Promise’s flagship programs is the The Caterpillar Project (TCP), a program that will follow the students through their school years, and provide academic and life support during that time. Conducting community service is one of the core components of TCP, and the students, or Caterpillars as they’re called, have done community service projects every month since they entered the program four years ago in the fifth grade. Projects that included helping students and families in need, locally and abroad including as far away as South Africa, according to Project Promise founder and president Resa O’Reilly. They’ll be taking those good works on the road this summer, as they embark on a trip across the U.S. to impact even more lives outside of their community!
The Caterpillars have been busy for the last several months holding water sales as a fundraiser for the trip. But they’ve also done something else – created beautiful beaded bracelets under the guidance of the TCP program’s Creative Expression instructor, Empress – bracelets that will support the Caterpillar’s summer of service as a fundraiser.
How can you help? The Caterpillars have made over 100 beaded bracelets, and these bracelets are for sale at the STX Oil Bar. Purchase a beaded bracelet today, and support the Caterpillars awesome summer initiative!
